Addicted

As many of you know I got addicted to the Twilight series. It was by accident I swear! I watched the movie at my neighbor's house not knowing what to expect but I wasn't giving it my full attention, but I still thought it was ok. A month later I borrowed the movie, watched it with Matt and we spent HOURS looking up what happened in the other books...and then I HAD to go buy them. I bought them on Saturday and started Twilight (book 1) around 2:30ish...It's Wednesday and I finished book 4, Breaking dawn, before noon. I'm not one to have patience with books. I really can spend hours reading if I didn't need to take care of the baby and the house and Matt! Anyways it was a great series, and I'm hoping to go watch New Moon when it opens in theatres in November. :)

Divine Mercy Hour

Has Divine Mercy hour existed since the Cross?

"At three o'clock , implore My Mercy, especially for sinners; and , if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in my abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great Mercy for the whole world. I will allow you to enter into my mortal sorrow. In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of me in virtue of My Passion." -Diary of St. Faustina

I've been reading the Acts of the Apostles lately and so far Peter healed someone at 3pm and at 3pm Cornelius got a vision from an Angel that eventually led him to Peter who baptized him. I thought it was interesting that the time of these things was recorded in the Bible.

The cry room

I've really been struggling with the concept of a cry room lately. I thought it was where you had to take your crying child to settle down during mass - outside also works. People today seem to treat it as a place where all children have to go if there's a possibility they make noise. Once when E was like 6 months old she babbled a tiny bit and our Pastor made a comment to the entire parish that they cry are is for all the "restless angels." We were very annoyed. Another Sunday E squeaked and a man turned around and said "there's a cry room you know." Grumble grumble. I'm all for reverence during mass but COME ON!! Jesus said "Let the children COME to me." I'm pretty sure while He gave the sermon on the Mount there were toddlers running round, babies nursing, crying and squealing. It's a part of life! While the Church is pro-life and wants to encourage young couples to have children and participate in the parish, we simply cannot do that from a cry room. E will never learn to behave at Mass nor ever understand that she's in the presence of God if she's always stuck at the back of the church behind a glass wall!

Today I started going to daily Mass since E has moved her 1st nap till 9. She said "bah bah" and crawled around the back of the Lower Hall (this was at STM). Afterwards an elderly man came up to me and said that he loved hearing her during Mass and it was so nice to have children here. Made my day :).

The big switch

So we've decided to switch to cloth diapers now that the bean is 10 months old. Now these aren't your grandmothers cloth diapers. There are several options for cloth diapers and I went to a cloth diaper info session and the women were wonderful and explained EVERYTHING. I'm going with pocket diapers which are a normal diaper that has a pocket you slip absorbent things into and all in ones, which have the absorbent thingys sewn in, but a pocket where you can add more for nighttime. Washing is super simple too and with our new clothesline they can get sanitized in the sun. The only downside is they cost $15-25 a pop...right now we spend about $40 a month. I'm also trying to switch to using washcloths as wipes to save on wipes. Of course I am reasonable and will use disposables if we go somewhere I can't do laundry. Thankfully the baby didn't seem to notice the switch. More later as we figure this out.
